Progress


Well "The Punishment of Lust Reworked" (working title) has come on a bit.  I am leaving the dust to settle on it before I have a final push at it though.  The colours have gone a bit psychedelic...  I am unsure about the figure at this time.  It may be washed out in the final edit.  Two things further I think need to happen.  1. Bring some of the abstract shapes from the background so they surround the painting. 2. A more delicate finish of the stage backdrop is required.  But almost there I think.

Interior landscapes

One theme I am currently exploring in a couple of paintings is using landscape painted onto interior spaces. In the first one I have sketched out a landscape that will be Giovanni Segantini's The Punishment of Lust, but painted into a theatre setting. It's very complex tranposing from a flat painting to make it appear concave. I am also working on a smaller painting where panels have been removed from the "ceiling" of the painting to give the impression of a landscape painted within another space.
